Biography
Ray Martin, 87, of Benton Harbor went to be with the rest of his loving family on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 30th at Duffield and Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Ray was born on April 28, 1922 in Ida, AR to the late P.M. and Dessie (White) Martin. He married Willine (Johnson) on November 10, 1942 and spent 67 years with her until her passing. Ray served four years in the U.S. Army on the lines during WWII. In his life he had different farms, restaurants, rentals, many homes and worked in different factories and canneries. At the age of 86 he finally gave it all up due to his health. Ray dearly loved working in many churches with his friends, including visiting the sick and building the churches. He was very proud to have been a deacon.
Ray leaves behind memories of love to friends and family, his daughter, Maedean (Mike) Prenkert of Hartford; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and his last surviving sibling Loy (Geletta) Martin.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Willine in 2009; son, James Sr. in 1999; grandson, Mike Prenkert Jr in 1989; son-in-law Mike Prenkert Sr. in 1999; sisters, Mary and his twin May; brothers, Ezia, Earl, Leo, Charlie, Frank & Rufo.
