Alta was born on August 5, 1941, to Miles and Nora (Dutton) Crippen in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She worked in various administrative positions, most recently at United Federal Credit Union. Her hobbies included sewing and embroidery. Alta was a member of The River Church, where she volunteered and where her faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, shone brightly for everyone around her to see. She steadfastly prayed for her family, friends, her country, and anyone she thought needed to be lifted up in prayer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Piper Boven, and her siblings, Russell Crippen, Robert Crippen, Beverly Liles, and Margaret Milbeck.

Alta is survived by her husband, Roger, whom she married on August 22, 1959; her children, Don (Sonya) Boven, Sandy (Jeff) Harner, Cris (Steve) Tavolacci, and Denise (Tom) King; and her sisters, Ola Bailey and Eileen Boven. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Wes (Brittany) Boven, Jake (Emily) Boven, Jordan (Kelsey) Boven, Zachary Harner, Jackson (Alyssa) Harner, Carston (Victoria) Harner, Sam Tavolacci, Vinny Tavolacci, Jacqueline King, and Davis King, as well as 13 great-grandchildren.
