Barbara D. Denton, 60 of Coloma, passed away Thursday, December 21 at Corewell Health Lakeland in St. Joseph surrounded by her family.

Per Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place and a gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, January 22 at Van Buren Sportsmen's Club in Hartford beginning at 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to leave an online message for the family may do so by selecting the link on this page.

Barbara was born on June 20, 1963 in Butte, Montana to Melvin and Judith (Davis) Bumgardner. She was best known as a chef, previously owning a bar in Texas called Bellvania and working at Riverside Tavern. Most recently, she was the chef at Eddies Diner in Coloma, where she was lovingly known as "Mama Bear". Working at Eddies was her life and she was so proud to be there. Aside from being a chef, Barbara loved cooking for an army, camping, everything outdoors, any and all animals, especially her best cat friend Kit Kat, and decorating for every holiday. She also loved playing Candy Crush Soda Saga where she left off at level 7,549. Barbara married into a very large family, not sure if she knew what she was getting into, but she was welcomed with open arms and loved by all. One of her joys was the Denton Family Reunion every year where her gallons of salsa was anticipated.

Barbara was stubborn and hard headed but was one hell of a woman who left her imprint on everyone, made people always feel good and loved her life, kids and family with her whole heart.  Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she was loved by all.

Barbara is survived by her husband Kevin, whom she married March 14, 1986; two daughters Chrystal and Kaylie Denton; her mother Judy (Ed) Angle; her brother Melvin Bumgardner and his family. Also surviving are numerous brother and sister in laws and her extended Denton and Bumgardner family.

She was preceded in death by her father Melvin Bumgardner.
