Carol L. Smith, 87 of Coloma died early Monday, July 9 at Lakeland Medical Center in St Joseph.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the National Audubon Society, www.audubon.org.  Those wishing to leave an online message of comfort for the family may do so by selecting the like on this page.

Carol was born on December 6, 1930 in Dowagiac to Harold and Grace (Kempton) Deming. She was a homemaker for more than 30 years and then owned and operated The Establishment for 20 years. Carol loved cooking and bird watching and enormously enjoyed her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Michael (Beverly) Smith and Timothy (Jill) Smith both of Cassopolis, a daughter Sally (Jamie) Stone of Coloma and a daughter in law Deborah Smith of Benton Harbor.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Zachary (Sherry) Smith, Anton (Michele) Smith, Nathan Smith, Melanie (Sarah Venator) Smith, Katie (Kreg) Krupa, Lucas (Katrina) Smith, Jacob (Wendy) Smith, Dylan Stone; nine great grandchildren, Isabella, Reagan, Lucas II, Valor, Cooper, Mia, Quinn, Amos and Jaqueline and a very close friend Carl Stevens.

In additional to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband Robin in March of 2011 and son Dan in January of 2018.
