Clara A. Vandenberg, 95, of Coloma, passed away Sunday morning, December 2, 2018 at The Willows in St. Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Watervliet with burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, also in Watervliet. Visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma.

Clara was born on April 20, 1923 in Noordwykerhout, Netherlands, the daughter of Henri and Theodora Braun. She and Chris Vandenberg were married in Voorhout, Netherlands in 1947 and a year later the young couple came to America and settled in SW Michigan. There they raised their family of three sons and three daughters. Clara spent most of her time raising her six children, but also enjoyed doing gardening, cross stitch and embroidery in her free time.

Clara is survived by her son Pete Vandenberg of Coloma; two daughters, Dorothy (Paul) Cayo of Coloma and Therese (Michael Goldstein) Vandenberg of San Mateo, Calif.; four grandchildren, Rachael and Sean Vandenberg, Angie Wilson and Jeremy Dorstewitz.

She was preceded in death by her husband Chris in 1990; her special granddaughter Sarah Cayo; her daughter Mary Ellen Watson; and two sons, Henry and Michael Vandenberg.
