Donald E. Thornton, 78 of Coloma passed away August 18, 2018 in Plainwell,  Mich.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Monday, Sept 10 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma.  Graveside burial of ashes with Military Honors will be held 1 PM Tuesday, Sept. 11, at North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.  Donations in memory of Donald may be made to the North Berrien Military Rites Team.  Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so by using the "Guestbook" link located on this page.

Donald was born Sept. 24, 1939 in Benton Harbor to William and Georgia (Titsworth) Thornton.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, serving from 1957 to 1963.  Donald retired from Whirlpool Corporation after over 25 years of service.  In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the WOW (woods or water) Club.

Survivors include three sons Timothy Thornton of Springdale, Ark, Gregory (Jodi) Thornton of Plainwell, Jeffrey Thornton of Coloma; their mother Evelyn Thornton of Coloma; along with three grandchildren, Madeline Thornton of Ft. Smith, Ark, and Elizabeth and Alexandra Thornton of Plainwell.

Donald was preceded in death by five brothers; Norman, William Jr, James, Larry, John, and two sisters Anona Pavalus and Jean Arant.
