Dorothy L. Mendenhall, 84, of Coloma, passed away on July 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by family.

Dorothy was born October 5, 1936 in West Frankfort, Ill to Robert and Dorothy (Sinks) Lintner. She had a rewarding career as a federal employee for social security, retiring in 2000 after 30 years. Dorothy's zest for life included her family, writing historical screen plays, participating in fan activities, volunteering at professional ice-skating venues, traveling with her grandchildren, and touring in Europe. Throughout Dorothy's lifetime, she also had a heart for elephants, the plight of children worldwide, and rescuing dogs.

Dorothy is survived by her children Robert (Claire) Mendenhall of Coloma, Sandra (Dexter) Ithal of Tampa, Fla., Steven (Karen) Mendenhall of Gilbert, South Carolina, and Robyn Mendenhall of Coloma; and her grandchildren Kara (Brian), Kristy (Michael), Thomas (Paige), Matthew (Jess), Eric (Tinsley) Alexis, Jessica, John Jr., and Robert (Becky). Also surviving are her great grandchildren Brayden, Hadley, Jocelyn, Olivia, Elena and J.R.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sons Edward in 2019 and John in 2009.
