Edward A. Johnson, 78, of Coloma, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph following an extended illness.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial donations in Ed's memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Ed was born August 16, 1944 in Grand Haven, Michigan. He moved to the Coloma area as a teenager and attended Coloma High School. It was during a high school dance that he met the former Joanna Mayes, whom he later married and celebrated 58 years of marriage together. Ed worked at Hoffman's Die Cast for a number of years prior to his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing and gardening, and he loved working in his yard at home.

Ed is survived by his wife, Joanna; four children, Tamara "Tammy" Rodda of Coloma, Ed Johnson Jr. of Buchanan; D. Sue (Mark) Buchwalter of Orrville, Ohio, and Pam (Tim) McVay of St. Joseph; sisters Mary Jo Stroud of Watervliet and Glenda Ressler of Dowagiac; his brother Gale Wayne Strode of Coloma; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Patricia Lea Johnson.
