Obituary

Ernest E. Sandberg, 83 of Coloma passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

Cremation has taken place.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Sunday, January 21st at the V.F.W. Post 6248, 560 N. Ernest was born September 30, 1940 in Decatur, Michigan to John and Helen (Wegner) Sandberg. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. after serving during the Vietnam Era.  He was formerly employed as security manager for Auto Specialties and later was a security guard for Cook Nuclear Plant.  In his free time Ernest enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all he truly enjoyed operating his small u-pick blueberry farm.  Ernest was also a very prolific public writer about topics of current events.

Survivors include his wife Beverly (McDaniel) whom he married January 12, 1974, four sons; Kevin (Brenda) Sandberg of Clearwater, Fla, Bryan (Robin) Sandberg and Ray (Della) Sandberg both of Dowagiac, and Dan (Kristen) Sandberg of Niles.  Also surviving are siblings; Lillian (Pete) Anders of Dowagiac, Patricia (Don) Bailey of Decatur, John "Ed" (Karen) Sandberg of Wolcottville, Ind, Kay Penrod of Union City, Mich., 13 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by three brothers; Bob, Jack, and Dick Sandberg, and three sisters; Betty Sopher, Harriett Naneville, and Doris Brewer.
