Obituary

Eugene Lee Hauch, 80, of Coloma, passed away on October 5, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family.


Cremation has taken place per his wishes. A private family service will be held. Memorial donations in Eugene's memory may be made to Hospice at Home or the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Eugene was born January 2, 1936 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Clarence and Lena (Biastock) Hauch. He proudly served his country in the Navy and the Army during the Korean War and was known for being a true American and a proud veteran.  Following the service he worked on his family farm and later met his loving wife of 48 years Penny Nichols whom he married in November of 1968.  He later retired from Whirlpool after 30 years. Eugene loved gardening and was very passionate about it.  He loved his family, was always forgiving and spoke his mind, but above all he was a loving father and husband and will be greatly missed.


Eugene is survived by his wife Penny, his children Dennis (Shelly) Hauch, Lonna (Steve) Schultz, Jean (Todd) Williams all of Benton Harbor, Adam (Shawn) Hauch of Mishawaka, Ind., and Amy Ramsey of Benton Harbor. Also surviving are two brothers Merlin (Jackie) Hauch of Coloma and Creston (Patricia) Hauch of Eau Claire; grandchildren Nicholas & Tyler Schultz, Ciara & Cody Williams, Matthew & Marcus Hauch, Lindsey, Matthew, & Jewel Hauch, Michael and Sean Ramsey & Heather Marschke along with six great grandchildren .


Eugene is preceded in death by his parents.
