Obituary

Eunice May Tiffert, nee Binns, 95, of Coloma, died peacefully on May 7, 2023 at Caretel Inns, where she has been a resident for the past four years.

Eunice was born to the natural union of Nora Sinclair and Leonard David Binns on July 28, 1927, in Jamaica. She attended Mary Mount High School for girls in Highgate, Jamaica and was employed as a dry goods clerk, and cashier in Kingston and Montego Bay.

Wanting to improve her lot in life, Eunice emigrated to the USA in 1965, and obtained employment as a housekeeping in the New York City metropolitan area. She sought training as an LPN and took care of newborn for many years.

She became a naturalized US citizen in 1983, and was subsequently employed as a nurse/nanny with a prominent family in Princeton, New Jersey for several years until her first retirement in 1994.

Wanting to be closer to family, she purchased a home in Coloma, and began working at the local McDonalds where she made numerous friends and acquaintances; retired therefrom at age 90. A lover of classical music, Eunice enjoyed caring for her home, and possessed an infectious, jovial personality.

She is preceded by three husbands; a grandson Nicholas, and is survived by a son, George Walker, granddaughter Jessica (Jacob) Nunley and great grandsons Walker and Wyatt.

Eunice will be cremated and there are no services planned. The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by Caretel staff along with the hospice personnel at Caring Circle.

Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorial donations may be made to Caring Circle.
