Glen Bruce Dings of Coloma passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017. He was born in Dowagiac on January 9, 1937 to James and Mable Dings. He was a 1955 graduate of Covert High School. After graduation he served his country honorably in the United States Army. On March 17, 1957 he married the love of his life Nancy (Soderberg) Dings. He worked at the Watervliet Paper Mill then for the Michigan Department of Transportation where he retired in 1998 after 30 years.

Glen was a member of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Watervliet, and served as a deacon at the church. He was a volunteer driver at North Berrien Senior Center for many years. He was a member of the Watervliet Lions Club for 36 years. He was the Lions 11B-2 District Governor from 1992-1993, installed in Hong Kong, and governed over 47 clubs. He has received numerous awards for his service. He received the SA Dodge, the highest award in Lionism in 2010 and was inducted into the Lions of Michigan Foundation Hall of Fame this past August in Lansing. He participated in a Lions eye glass mission in Latvia where they screened and gave out 2,500 pairs of glasses.

Glen is survived by his wife Nancy, two sons Bruce (Diane) Dings of Benton Harbor and Bryan (Cari) Dings of Portage, sister Lavina Messal of Grand Island, Fla., two close nieces LaChelle (Richard) Bonner of Traverse City and Denine (Richard) Smith of Shackleford, Va., a nephew Bob (Mary) Dings of Buchanan and several other nieces and nephews.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Buddy, Russell, Paul, Ray and Tom and sisters Tilly, Pat and Mary Lou.

The family will welcome friends on Saturday December 30 from 10-12 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the service will follow at 12:00. Private burial of ashes will take place at Watervliet City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hanson Hospice Center, Lions of Michigan Foundation, North Berrien Senior Center or Plymouth Congregational Church in Watervliet.
