Grover W. Boyd, 80, of Hartford, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph following an extended illness.
Funeral services with Military Rites will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday at the Hartford Bible Church with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorials in Grover's memory may be made to the Hartford Bible Church or the donor's choice. Grover was born on May 3, 1941 in Benton Harbor to Roy and Virginia Boyd. Following high school, he served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to his retirement, Grover had worked over 40 years as a truck driver for local steel manufacturers. On June 20, 1998 he married the love of his life, Imogene Mann, whom he always called his angel. He was a kind, loving, and easy going man and his family was the most important thing in his life. He and Gene often hosted large family gatherings at their home during the holidays. Grover also enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets and rummages where he collected different items.
Grover is survived by his wife Imogene; two sons, Brian (Marlene) Boyd of Walker, Mich. and Brett (Greg) Boyd of South Bend; his stepson Howard Owens of Hartford; step daughters Judy Michael, Debbie (Terry) DeFord, and Melinda (Mike) Kimp, all of Hartford; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wilbur, Dave and Gerald Boyd; and his sister Nancy.
