Obituary

Hazel Buskirk, 90, of Coloma, passed away on January 3, 2016 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Per her request cremation has taken place and no services are planned.  Private family burial of ashes will take place in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, MI. Memorial donations in Hazel's memory may be made to Paws wtih a Cause, 4646 S. Division; Wayland, MI 49348 or Berrien County Sheriff's Department TRIAD, 919 Port St.; St. Joseph, MI 49085. Hazel was born September 12, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Lina (Dahms) Weland.   Hazel worked as a nursing assistant and a pharmacy tech at Watervliet Hospital retiring in 1990 after 35 years of service.    She was a member of the North Berrien Senior Center, a former member of Salem Lutheran Church, and a volunteer for the Berrien County Sheriff's Department TRIAD which provides help for seniors.  She also loved bowling, traveling, and camping.

Hazel is survived by her son William (Carla) Buskirk of Michigan City, Indiana and a sister Edna (Orrin) Coffinger of Paw Paw.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Rob and Mike Harper, William and Renee Buskirk, Brian Leedy, and Tracy Spaulding and eleven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband William in 1995, her daughter Barb Leedy in 2015 and a sister Myrtle Beiter in 2013.
