Obituary

Helen J. Vollrath, 94 of Coloma passed away on January 27, 2026 at CrownPointe of Stevensville.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2 at Coloma United Methodist Church. Private burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen's memory may be made to Coloma United Methodist Church or North Berrien Senior Center. Helen was born March 9, 1931 in Benton Harbor to Ralph and Grace (Brant) Black. Helen started working at Menasha in 1968, retiring after 27 years. Following Menasha, Helen enjoyed retirement by working at North Berrien Senior Center for over 30 years. She was a devoted member of Coloma United Methodist Church, being a lay leader for seven years, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir and going on two mission trips to Africa and Haiti. Helen held many volunteer positions including coordinating the Tri-City Crop Walk for nine years and the district and conference Hunger Coordinator, cooking food for the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen. Aside from Helen's passion for the church and volunteering, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, golfing, and was a Brownie Scout Leader and a Lady Shriner.

Survivors include her children George M. Vollrath of Kalamazoo, David (Jan) Vollrath of Coloma, Leanne (Bruce) Nitz of Stevensville, Mary (Terry) Martin of Columbia City, IN, Jim (Eilene) Vollrath of Sodus, and Julie (Dudley) LeValley of Benton Harbor.  Also surviving are two special "adopted daughters" Kathy Streu and Pat Morlock, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband George in 2010, her brother Ralph Black and sister Catherine Knapp.
