Hurley Wayne Skidmore "Hicker Nut", 81 of Bainbridge Township, was surrounded by his family when he returned to heaven on February 19, 2022.

Hurley was born August 29, 1940 in Russellville, Alabama to Zollie & Hettie Skidmore.  He met the love of his life Joyce May Wheeler in 1959 and they got married on June 18, 1960.

Hurley "Papa" was a family man to the fullest.  He worked hard everyday to make sure his wife and kids had everything they wanted.  He loved to spend time with friends and family and always said "work hard, play hard".  He took a chance in 1983 by leaving Consumer's Asphalt to start H & T Asphalt and Sealing Company with this brother Tom. Papa could never sit still for very long and truly enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and tinkering with things.

Hurley and Joyce celebrated 61 years of marriage and told her every day that he loved her.  He started every morning calling and talking with his daughters and brothers to tell them that he loved them.

Hurley was proceeded in death by his parents Zollie & Hettie; sisters Lelar & Ira; and his brother WD Skidmore.  He is survived by brothers Tom, Jay and Worney Skidmore; the love of his life, Joyce; daughters Anita Skidmore (Robin Sommers) and Dana & Heidi Hosbein-Skidmore; granddaughter Taneesha Worley and great granddaughter Paisley Grace Worley.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma.  Visitation will begin one hour prior and run from 5 - 6 p.m. The family asks that people wear masks to prevent the spread of Covid.  Memorial donations should be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society.
