Obituary

James “Jim” Kraklau, 64, of Benton Harbor, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2026 while doing what he loved, which was fishing on Little Paw Paw Lake.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held Saturday, May 30th beginning at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post #105 located at 1645 Paw Paw Avenue in Benton Harbor . As per Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma is assisting the family. Jim was born March 13, 1962 in Watervliet, Michigan to William and Eileen Kraklau. He was a graduate of Watervliet High School. For most of his life, Jim worked as a foreman in commercial construction, retiring in 2022. He and his wife Theresa own a small family farm where Jim loved to spend his days. He had peach trees and other fruit that provided just enough of a crop for family and friends. His faithful dog Rex would accompany Jim daily on his golf cart as they explored the farm. Jim also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a loyal Detroit Lions fan.

Jim is survived by his wife Theresa; his son Christopher Kraklau of Washington; his sister Therese Daly of Watervliet, and his faithful companion Rex.

He was preceded in death by his brother William “Sonny” Kraklau and his parents.
