Joahnita Paustian, 90, of Eau Claire, passed away on December 5, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Burial of ashes will take place in Shanghei Cemetery at a later date. Joahnita was born on June 4, 1934 in Watervliet to Lester and Marjerie (Person) Hiler. She was a farmer her entire life and worked at Juns Nursery and Greenhouse on Napier Avenue in Benton Harbor. Joahnita enjoyed doing crafts, especially with flowers and gardening, and spending time with her grandkids and family. She also had a passion for polka dancing, where her and her husband August won several trophies, and loved spending her winter months in Florida for over 30 years.

Joahnita is survived by her son Ricky Lee Paustian; daughter Sandra Jean Spitzer; two grandsons Samuel and Ethan Spitzer and a great granddaughter Lilliana. Also surviving is her sister Beverly (Craig) Tidy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband August in 2019, her daughter Barbara Ann Paustian and siblings Ilene Scott, Jeanie Wolf, Richard Hiler, Dorothy Reynolds, Dewey Hiler and Robert Hiler.
