John A. Mitchell, 67, of Coloma passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at his residence.

Cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, January 24 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where the family will begin receiving friends one hour prior to the service.  Donations in memory of John may be made to the family.  Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so by using the "Guestbook" link located on this page.

John was born January 4, 1949 in Muskegon, Michigan to Robert and Elizabeth (Ruel) Mitchell.  He was employed by Jvis Manufacturing Corp. for the past 20 years and was a member of United Auto Workers Union since 1972.  He was a faithful employee who truly loved to work including putting his grandkids to work.  Family was most important and no one ever went without, including his friends.  In his free time John enjoyed playing poker on Saturday nights, and watching NASCAR in addition to the Detroit Lions and Tigers.

Survivors include a daughter Stephanie (Tim) Kopaceski of Sodus; tdwo sisters Marsha (Jerry) Pletcher and Terri Michael both of Muskegon; ten grandchildren, Nova and Luna Perez, Joyce (Brandon) Roberts, Justin Howard, Damon Christopher, Dasha Hogan, and John, Zack, Montana, and Ombreyanna Kopaceski.  Also surviving is one great grandchild Madisyn Mae Roberts, three nieces, four nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and daughter Renee, he was preceded in death by his wife Cheryl in 2005.
