Obituary

John V. Ruggio, Jr., 93, of Hartford, passed away on February 15, 2022 at his home with his son Jack by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21 at New Day Church in Watervliet. Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be from 2-4:00 p.m. Sunday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Memorial donations in John's memory may be made to New Day Church or Hospice-Centrica Care Navigators. John was born August 19, 1928 in Chicago to John and Sophie (Gundel) Ruggio, Sr.   In 1952, John married Catherine Greco and the couple celebrated 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2015. John was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War era and retired from the Watervliet Paper Company after over 30 years of employment. He loved spending time with his wife and family, enjoying all of Cathy's homemade Italian food and baked goods. John loved being in church and worshiping the Lord.

Surviving family includes his children Jill (Kenneth) Weber of Bonita Springs, Fla. and John "Jack" Ruggio III of Hartford; grandchildren Katherine (William) Rowell, Kasey (Jocelyn) Weber, Jessica Anderson and Johnny Ruggio IV and great grandchildren Dominic and Amelia Anderson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Cathy and his three sisters Florence, Marion and Alice.
