Joyce J. Harte (Caldwell), 92, of Sodus, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, at Royalton Manor. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Born on January 15, 1934, Joyce grew up in the small community of Hinchman, Michigan, and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1952. On November 27, 1954, she married Lawrence E. Harte, and together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family in Sodus, MI.

For more than 20 years, Joyce worked alongside her husband at their family-owned business, Payless Grocery in King Landing, becoming a familiar face in the community. She later joined Whirlpool Financial, where she formed lasting friendships with ladies of The Lunch Bunch.

Family remained at the center of Joyce’s life. She treasured time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson and was grateful to watch her family grow through the generations. She also enjoyed hosting friends and relatives for special occasions, sharing her love of cooking and baking.

She will be remembered for watching Notre Dame Women’s Basketball games with her granddaughter and always having a camera to capture cherished family memories. Together, these moments reflected the warmth, generosity, and devotion that defined her life.

Joyce is survived by her three children, Karen (Ralph) Kurtz of Baltimore, Maryland, Lawrence (Sandy) Harte of Sodus, Michigan, and Cynthia Harte of St. Louis, Missouri; her grandchildren, Kristen Harte (John McElroy) and Gregory (Kathleen) Harte; and her great-grandson, Oliver Harte ; and sister-in-law Joan (Bob) Barton

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Harte; her brother, Robert Caldwell; and her sister-in-law, Ruth Caldwell.

Though she will be deeply missed, Joyce’s memory will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and all whose lives she touched.

Following cremation, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sodus, Michigan, during a private service.
