Justin Lee Smith, 85, of Coloma, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 from 1 - 3 p.m. at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Cremation has taken place. Internment of ashes will take place at Coloma Cemetery at a later date. Justin was born on Nov. 6, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Justin and Velma (Widmeyer) Smith. Following his graduation from Benton Harbor High School, he served with the 1009th squadron in the United States Air Force as an airman first class during the Korean War.  After his graduation from Michigan State University, he married Alice Zych.  On December 14, 2015 they celebrated 58 years of marriage together.  Prior to his retirement, Justin was a supervisor of systems programming with Western Electric, Haskins and Sells, Hughes Aircraft and Mills Products.  Justin was a member of the Coloma American Legion Post 362 and enjoyed traveling, golf and visits to the casinos.

He is survived by his wife Alice; his daughter Lizabeth Smith of Coloma; a sister Barbara Vines of Farmersburg, Indiana; a brother Donald (Pearl) Smith of Orange, California and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Dorothy Brandt.
