Kenneth A. Stanisz Jr., 36, of Coloma, passed away on October 26, 2015 at his residence. Ken was born August 24, 1979 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Kenneth and Karol (McKie) Stanisz. As a child Ken and his father loved attending air shows. It was at this point in his life that Ken decided flying was his passion. After graduating from Coloma High School he joined the Air Force as a jet mechanic; spending 10 years doing what he loved. He had been to Korea, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and many other locations throughout the U.S. and abroad. While in the Air Force Ken received several medals including the Air Force Achievement Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force Longevity Service with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. Ken is survived by his parents Kenneth Sr. and Karol Stanisz of Coloma, his sister Renee (Jason) Catania of Benton Harbor; his grandparents Buck and Nancy McKie; five uncles, Larry (Jean) Stanisz, John (Kathy) Stanisz, Joseph (Karen) McKie, Mark (Karen) McKie and Tim (Amanda) McKie, his aunt Karen (Laura Leeb) McKie, two nephews Joseph and Benjamin Catania; his former wife Melissa Stanisz and his friend and companion Mui Loc. Ken is preceded in death by his grandparents John and Grace Stanisz. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Burial with Military Rites will follow at Coloma Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
