Larry McClanahan, 74 of Watervliet passed away Aug. 4, 2017 at his residence.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm Tuesday, Aug. 8 at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the visitation. Donations may be made to the North Berrien Senior Center. Those wishing to leave an online message of remembrance may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.
Larry was born Aug. 5, 1942 in Hayti, Mo. to David and Lorine (Pounders) McClanahan. He served in the US Navy during the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Larry founded McClanahan Construction, serving as owner, operator, and contractor from 1967 until his retirement in 2007. He built many outstanding commercial buildings as well as numerous residential homes. Larry was a founding member of Southwest Michigan Home Builders Association and a former member of the Lions Club and Jaycees in Watervliet. In his free time Larry enjoyed playing golf, watching football, and spending time in Florida with the love of his life, Mary Jo, whom he married Nov. 16, 1963. Spending time with family and friends is what truly made him happy.
In addition to his wife survivors include his daughters, Susie (Scott) Burkhardt of Watervliet and Tina (Tom) Lentz of Coloma; grandkids, Derrick and Sydney Burkhardt, Christopher (Ashley) Hauch, Allie (Cole) Andrews, and Eric Hauch, two great grandsons and an additional great grandchild expected in December. Also surviving are aides Tracy, Erica, Dana, Farrah, and Cheryl that became like family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, a beloved son-in-law Tim Hauch, and loving dog Lucy.
