Lorraine M. Cross, 97, of St. Joseph died peacefully May 8, 2018, at West Woods of Bridgman Nursing Center.

Lorraine was born in Chicago, Il, on Dec. 3, 1920, to Bud and Mae Halpin. She attended Trinity High School, and graduated from Rosary College (now Dominican University of River Forest, IL) followed by post-graduate work at Loyola University Chicago. In Cicero, Il, she taught partially-sighted children for several years until marrying John "Jack" Cross in 1956.  They moved to St Joe and raised their children in an old Victorian house on State Street, where her mother-in-law "Chubby" joined them.

In addition to her love of family, she nurtured many dear friendships and passions for reading, travel, and playing dominoes.  Lorraine was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish.  She will be remembered for her kindness, open mind, and joyful presence.

Lorraine is survived by 5 children: Leslie (Phil) Deja, Corinne (Joe) Kliegl, Christine (Wayne) Froberg, Michael Cross, Mary (Sally) Cross; 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, mother-in-law, parents, and brothers Raymond, Fran and Carroll.
