The family is planning to hold a celebration of Mark's life which will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

Mark was born on April 7, 1974 in Stanton, Michigan to Vickie and Douglas Townsend. He and his wife Crystal were together twenty-four years and the couple relocated to the Coloma area with their family in 2013. He was a welder by trade and had been employed with Pratt Industries in Bridgman for the past five years. He was also a member of the Sons of the Legion Post 362.

Mark is survived by his wife Crystal; four children, Trevin Townsend of Ionia, Taylor Townsend of St. Joseph, Tyra Townsend and Cohyn Townsend, both of Coloma; his father Douglas Townsend of Ionia; his brother Troy (Loretta) Townsend of Ionia; his granddaughter Lillian Johnson; several nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother Vickie Sage; a brother Joel Townsend; his grandmothers Shires and Celesta Ambeau, grandfathers Alfred Shires and George Townsend; several family relatives and his best friend of seventeen years "Cash".
