Obituary

Michael J. Krugh

November 4, 1955 – August 7, 2026

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael J. Krugh, affectionately known to many as Mike or Sarge, departed this life on August 7th, 2026, at the age of 70.

Born on November 4th, 1955, in Buchanan, Michigan, Michael was a lifelong resident of the Southwest Michigan area. He was a devoted father, a cherished grandfather, a loving cousin, a loyal friend, and a proud retired police sergeant who dedicated his life to protecting and serving his community.

Throughout his distinguished career in law enforcement with the Benton Township Police Department, Michael served with unwavering courage, integrity, and deep compassion. He viewed wearing a badge not just as a job, but as a calling to help others during their most vulnerable moments. Beyond his official duties, he was a steady anchor and a trusted mentor to his fellow officers, earning the profound respect of his department and the community he swore to protect.

Above all else, Michael’s greatest pride and joy in life was being a father and grandfather. He poured his heart into his family, something they will always remember and appreciate.

As a cousin, Michael held a special place in the hearts of his loved ones. He was the star of family gatherings, always ready with a warm embrace, a quick-witted joke, and a listening ear. His laughter could light up a room, and his steadfast loyalty meant that he was always the first to show up for anyone in need. The bond he shared with his entire family was built on a lifetime of shared stories, inside jokes, and unwavering support that will be deeply missed by us all.

Michael is survived by his honorary daughter Nycole Brooks, future son-in-law, Michael Roberts, and 2 grandsons, Michael and Landon; numerous loving cousins, and other extended family members; and a wide circle of dear friends and law enforcement brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Marguerite Krugh, his brother Steven Krugh, and sister Rhonda Krugh.

Though his watch has ended and his time with us has come to an end, the depth of his love, the strength of his character, and the warmth of his memory will live on in all of our hearts forever.
