Raymon D.
Douglas
Sep 16, 1937 — Oct 8, 2022
Riverside
Raymon D. Douglas, 85, of Riverside, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his children and family on Saturday, October 8, 2022.
Ray was born on September 16, 1937 on Petit Jean Mountain in Morrilton, Ark. to John and Nona Douglas. He was the oldest child in a family of what would become a total of nine boys. Ray helped care for his younger siblings as they all worked alongside their parents to provide for the family.
Ray would later fall in love with his childhood sweetheart Billie Owens, who he would marry on October 15, 1955. Shortly after, Ray and Billie left Arkansas for Michigan where they would start their own family, welcoming their three daughters and one son. Ray was a dedicated husband, father, brother, provider and friend who not only took care of his family but anyone else in need. The Douglas household was well known to always be full of family, friends, love, laughter, and music.
Ray enjoyed music and played guitar and sang most of his life. He and Billie shared their love and gift of music with so many by singing in their home, their church and traveling to other churches as their ministry.
Before and after his retirement from Bosch, Ray loved traveling. He and Billie would travel many miles throughout their 60 years together, from the east coast to the west, as well as Canada and Israel. Ray cherished the multiple family trips to Delaware with his wife and children for deep sea fishing excursions on his brother Charlie's charter boat and treasured his yearly visits back to Arkansas to see his brothers and their families for the annual Douglas reunions. Ray also enjoyed traveling the open roads on his motorcycle and in the air as he loved to fly.
He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by his four children; Joyce (Jim) Kalinowski of Coloma, Ellen (Ken) Biastock of Benton Harbor, Debbie (Rusty) Havlin of Saucier, Miss., and Ted (Lisa) Douglas of Benton Harbor; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; his brothers Charlie (Nadean), LeRoy (Mattie), Edwon (Elaine), Joe (Judith), Floyd (Shirley), Alvin, and Troy (Betty); half-sister June Wise (Charles) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife Billie, his parents John and Nona Douglas; his brother James Douglas; half-sister Geneva Perry; half-brothers Doyle Morgan and George Douglas; nieces Tracy Gordon and Markie Collins; and nephew Alan Walth.
