Richard C. Schuhknecht, 90, of Coloma, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Caretel Inns in St. Joseph.

A memorial visitation will take place from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the burial of ashes and Military Rites to follow at Coloma Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Van Buren Historical Society Museum or Paws with a Cause.

Dick was born Dec. 26, 1925 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to William and Hulda (Nietz) Schuhknecht. Having enough credits for early graduation from St. Joseph High School, he was selected by the United States Army to serve his country during WWII.

Dick and the former Eleanore Breunling were married in 1950 and the couple resided in St. Joseph where they raised their family. Dick was a fruit broker on the Benton Harbor Fruit Market from 1946 through 1972. For the next 28 years Dick and his son Kevin owned and operated a  partnership called S&S Agricultural Supply.

In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and vegetable gardening.

Dick is survived by his second wife Vera; his daughter Tanda Reynolds and her husband George Potter of Jackson, MI; his son Kevin Schuhknecht and his wife Mary Nye of Coloma; three grandchildren, Erin (Christopher) Hildebrand, Sara (Barry) Harmon and Chase Ziegler; and two great grandchildren, Eleanor and Hattie Harmon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Eleanore and his parents.
