Ronald P. Wittig, 76, of Coloma, passed away on January 15, 2016 at his residence.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 A.M Friday, January 22, 2016 at Salem Lutheran Church in Coloma of which he was a member.  The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations in Ron's memory may be made to Salem Lutheran Church, Hospice at Home, or Donor's Choice. Ron was born April 16, 1939 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Paul and Ella (Spurgat) Wittig.   He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked at Bursma Electronic Distributing in Wyoming, Michigan until his retirement in 2000.  Ron was a former secretary and commander of the St. Joseph Power Squadron where he taught boaters safety.  He was also an avid hunter and gun collector in his younger years. Ron enjoyed building boats, wood working in his shop, and volunteering at the Maritime Museum in South Haven. He was a proud member of the NRA, the Republican Party and a former school board member at Grace Lutheran.

Ronald is survived by wife Ruth, his children Todd (Mary) Wittig of Coloma and Christine (Mark) Russell of St. Joseph. Also surviving are his grandchildren Chloe and Brooke Russell, Raffe Wittig, two step-grandchildren Austin and Tessa Hebner, and a sister Sue Lake of Wisconsin.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents.
