Sarah Ann Smith, 85, of Coloma passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.
Services celebrating her life along with Eastern Star Rites will be held 1:00 pm Friday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma where visitation will begin two hours prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Coloma Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ann may be made to the North Berrien or Watervliet Firefighters Associations. Ann was born December 16, 1930 in Coloma to Charles and Alice (Cole) Arent. On July 2, 1949 she married William Smith and together they raised five children. She was Past Worthy Matron of the Coloma Order of the Eastern Star along with being a member of the Coloma United Methodist Church and member and past president of the Coloma American Legion Auxiliary. Among the many things she loved to do she truly enjoyed knitting and playing the piano.
Survivors include her children; Jackie (G. Dewey) Ransom, Margaret (Lynn Sr.) Cook, George (Gigi Scupham) Smith, Barb (Pete Petruk) Smith, and Pam (Brian Martin) Pliley; and three sisters; Betty Jean Smith, Mary Lou Eckoff, and Dorothy Mae Hemminger. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and special friends; Bruce and Deb Becker, Renae Wynatt, Leanne McQuiaton, and Floyd and Jacquie Schneider.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband William in 2011, granddaughter Jessica Smith, son-in-law Brian Pliley, and brother-in-law Don Smith.
