Obituary

William Donald Nichols, known as Don by friends and family, was born on May  6th, 1927 in Booneville, Miss to Robert  and Lina Nichols.

While working as a taxi driver in Booneville, Mississippi, Don met the love of his life, Idell Fredrick. The two wed on December 21st, 1946 and eventually moved to Coloma, to raise their son and 3 daughters. He worked as a supervisor for Michigan Fruit Canners  up until retirement. After retiring, he enjoyed spending warm winters with his bride at their second home in Corinth, Mississippi.

Don was an avid farmer and maintained bountiful gardens in the backyard even in the late years of his life. He took great pride in bringing homegrown fruits and vegetables to the table. He spoiled his kids and grandkids with his home-cooked southern meals, and they will all tell you that he made the best fried catfish, vegetable soup, chocolate cake and sweet tea. He cherished time with his children and grandchildren, and he never let them go hungry. Don had a big heart and would never hesitate to lend a hand to a stranger. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church for much of his life. His calm and caring spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Don is survived by his sister Gladys and brother Fred ,daughters Chana (Robin) Kniebes and Diann (Bill) Pudell, daughter-in-law Ann Nichols; son-in-law Larry Darling ; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
