Zan J. Ballard, 79, of Benton Harbor, passed away on May 11, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Zan was born May 30, 1940 in Shady Grove, Miss. to Thomas and Lola (Gambill) Ballard.   He was a master electrician with the IBEW Local 153 out of South Bend. Zan was a devoted husband and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Zan is survived by his wife Joyce (Adcock) Ballard. They were married 59 years on Sept. 17, 1960. Daughters Linda Ballard of Benton Harbor, Kathy Ballard of Huntingdon, Pa. and Christine (Kevin) Sherrod of Steamboat Springs, Colo. Grandchildren Newt and Lacey Sherrod, brothers Ronn (Sharon) Ballard of Stevensville and Roger (Jim Eldridge) Ballard of Battle Creek, a special nephew Roger Hiler of Benton Harbor and numerous other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Laura Knoll, Martha Ballard, Carl Ballard and Deborah Ruth.

Memorial donations in Zan's memory may be made to the Therapeutic Equestrian Center or Caring Circle Hospice.
