Lonnie L. Simmons, Sr., 46, of Covert passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 20, 2012 at his home. Lonnie was born in Alton, Missouri on February 8, 1966. He was one of five children of Thomas and Janet Simmons. He was formerly employed as a lineman with AEP. Lonnie enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. He was also an avid University of Michigan football fan. Most of all, Lonnie loved his family and enjoyed life most in their presence. He had a special affection for his granddaughter Cala. Lonnie is survived by his son, Lonnie (Jessica) Simmons Jr. and his daughter, Rachel Simmons (Wilson Perez), both of Coloma; his mother Janet Simmons of Covert; his sister, Bonda Simmons of Covert; three brothers, Ronnie (Lorie) Simmons of Coloma, Thomas Lee Simmons Jr. of Covert, and Jack (Carla) Simmons of Watervliet; and his granddaughter Cala Simmons. He was preceded in death by his father Thomas Simmons in 2008. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday. Cremation will take place after the services and burial of ashes will be in Fish Cemetery at a later date.
